State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a state‑based program that offers local one‑on‑one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families. Through Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-funded grants directed to states, SHIPs provide free counseling and assistance via telephone and face‑to‑face interactive sessions, public education presentations and programs, and media activities.
As your local SHIP center, we provide you with:
- FREE one-on-one counseling and assistance provided by trained, certified Benefits Counselors.
- In-depth and objective counseling to Medicare-eligible individuals, their families, and caregivers.
- Assistance in reviewing health or prescription drug plans
- Assistance applying for state and federal benefit programs such as Medicare Savings Programs (MSP) and Low-Income Subsidy (LIS)
